New: Covalys is highly pleased to add three Alexa-Fluor derivatives, based on the excellent fluorophores from Molecular Probes Inc., to the list of SNAP-vitro labels. SNAP-Alexa Fluor® 488, SNAP-Alexa Fluor® 546, and SNAP-Alexa Fluor® 647 are recommended for use in solution as well as for use on the surface of living cells.
SNAP-vitro kits are based on fluorophores with excellent solubility which is achieved by introducing negatively charged sulfonate groups to the fluorophores. This makes SNAP-vitro products impermeable to living cells. SNAP-vitro products are excellent for labeling SNAP-tag fusion proteins specifically and covalently in solution (lysates, extracts, pure protein) with fluorescent probes to prepare interaction assays (FRET, or on microtiter plates). Certain SNAP-vitro products (SNAP-Alexa Fluor 488, SNAP-Alexa Fluor 546, SNAP-Alexa Fluor 647 and SNAP-vitro 488, SNAP-vitro 547, and SNAP-vitro 647) are also suitable for selective labeling of SNAP-tag fusion proteins exposed on the surface of mammalian cells, e.g. to study internalization of membrane receptors. |
